Engine Exhaust A CAUTION: Engine exhaust can kill. It contains thegas carbon monoxide (CO), which you can't seeor smell. It can cause unconsciousnessand death. You might have exhaust coming in if: 0 Your exhaust system soundsstrange or different. Your vehicle gets rusty underneath. 0 Your vehicle was damaged in a collision. 0 Your vehicle was damaged when driving over high points on the road over road debris. or 0 Repairs weren't done correctly. 0 Your vehicle or exhaust system had been modified improperly. If you ever suspect exhaust is coming into your vehicle: 0 Drive it only with all the windows down to blow out anyCO; and Have your vehicle fixed immediately. Running Your Engine While You're Parked It's better not to park with the engine running. But if you ever have to, here are somethings to know. A CAUTION: Idling the engine withthe air system control off could allow dangerous exhaust into your vehicle (see the earlierCaution under "Engine Exhaust"). Also, idling in a closed-in place can letdeadly carbon monoxide (CO) into yourvehicle even if the fanswitch is at the highest setting. One place this can happenis a garage.
