● Shooting ● Using the Focus Lock The following types of subject may not be suited to autofocus photography. Use the focus lock in these situations. • Subjects with extremely low contrast to the surroundings • Subjects with extremely bright objects at the center of the composition • Subjects that are moving quickly • Subjects through glass Try to shoot as close to the glass as possible to reduce the chances of light reflecting back off the glass. 1 Aim the camera so that a subject at the same focal distance as the main subject is centered in the viewfinder or in the AF frame displayed on the LCD monitor. 2 Press and hold the shutter button halfway, and wait until the camera beeps twice. 3 Re-aim the camera direction to compose the shot as desired and press the shutter button all the way. 50 ● Shooting ● Switching Between Autofocus Modes While the auto focus function is set to AiAF, you can change to the auto focus center point. The camera automatically selects the On AF frame to focus on according to the shooting conditions. Focus is selected for the center of the AF frame. This helps you to make Off sure that the focus is exactly where you want it. 1 In the [Rec.] menu, select (AiAF). See "Selecting Menus and Settings" (p. 36). 2 Press or button to select [On] or [Off]. 3 Press the MENU button. Press the shutter button instead of the MENU button to shoot an image with the set auto focus mode. 51
