Solving Keyboard Problems Problem Embedded numeric keypad on the computer keyboard is disabled Screen is on and keyboard is locked External keyboard does not work Possible Cause Num Lock function is off. You initiated QuickLock. You connected the external keyboard while the computer was still turned on. Solution Press Fn+Num Lk to enable the embedded numeric keypad. Enter your power-on password to exit QuickLock. Turn off the computer, reconnect the external keyboard, then turn on the computer. Solving Memory Problems Problem Memory counting during Power-On Self-Test (POST) is incorrect Insufficient memory error during operation Possible Cause Memory board is installed incorrectly. Too many terminateand-stay resident (TSR) applications are running simultaneously. System ran out of memory for the application. Solution Ensure that the memory board is installed correctly. Close any TSR applications that you do not need. Check the documentation that came with the application for memory requirements and add more memory to the computer, if needed. Troubleshooting 16-11
