Both redundant and non-redundant cluster interconnects can be used. Ethernet Cluster Interconnect For a non-redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect, install one single-port or dual-port Ethernet adapter into each cluster node. For a redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect, install two single-port or two dual-port Ethernet adapters into each cluster node. Installing the Client LAN Adapters Unlike other clustering solutions, the PDC/O5000 does not allow transmission of intra-cluster communication across the client LAN. All such communication must be sent over the cluster interconnect. Install a NIC into each cluster node for the client LAN. Configuration of the client LAN is defined by site requirements. To avoid a single point of failure in the cluster, install a redundant client LAN. Installing GBIC-SW Modules for the Array Controllers Each MA8000/EMA12000 Storage Subsystem's controller enclosure contains two dual-port HSG80 Array Controllers and ships with four GBIC-SW modules. Verify that one GBIC-SW module is installed in both port connectors on each array controller. Install another GBIC-SW module into the two ports on the Storage Hub or Fibre Channel SAN Switch associated with each array controller.
