Insert the StorageWorks Secure Path Software CD in your CD-ROM drive. 2. If you have CD AUTORUN enabled on your server, the Secure Path setup program will start automatically. Otherwise, choose Run from the Start menu and enter the command shown below, substituting your CD-ROM's drive letter in the command shown below. drive_letter:\SPINSTAL\SETUP.EXE 3. When the setup starts, choose the Secure Path Client Install option. This option will install the Secure Path Manager graphical user interface. 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the other nodes in the cluster. After you install the Secure Path software and before you power on the Storage Hubs, FC-AL Switches, or Fibre Channel SAN Switches, you can install the optional Compaq StorageWorks Large LUN utility. This utility allows cluster nodes to access up to 64 LUNs per target (array controller port). Specifying the Preferred_Path for Storage Units You must assign storage units (storagesets) to the array controllers in the storage subsystem to specify which array controller port is used to access particular units at system boot time. The preferred_path unit attribute assigns units to a specific port (1 or 2) on "this_controller" or the "other_controller." In effect, this procedure specifies on which I/O path (array controller port to host bus adapter) the I/O will travel during normal operations. Initially, it is recommended that you balance the available storagesets between array controller ports in each storage subsystem. As storage demands are defined and individual drive throughput requirements are understood, adjustments to the disk I/O path configuration can be made using the Secure Path Manager. If you install the Large LUN utility on your PDC/O5000 cluster, a maximum of 256 LUNs can be distributed among the four array controller ports in each storage subsystem. If you do not install the Large LUN utility, a maximum of 16 LUNs can be distributed among the four array controller ports. The 16-LUN restriction is imposed by the Compaq Secure Path software and the MA8000/EMA12000 Storage Subsystems. IMPORTANT: When offsets are used, always assign LUNs 0-99 to port 1 on each HSG80 Array Controller and assign LUNs 100-199 to port 2.
