Installation and Configuration 5-7 To install GBIC-SW modules: 1. Verify that a GBIC-SW module is installed into both ports on each array controller. 2. Insert a GBIC-SW module into the correct port on each Storage Hub or Fibre Channel SAN Switch (two modules for each array controller). 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other MA8000 Storage Subsystems. Cabling an Ethernet Cluster Interconnect The following components are used in a redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect: I Two Ethernet adapters in each cluster node I Ethernet cables and switches or hubs G For two-node PDC/O5000 clusters, you can use two 100-Mbit/sec Ethernet switches or hubs with cables to connect the servers. G For PDC/O5000 clusters with three or more nodes, you use two 100-Mbit/sec Ethernet switches connected by Ethernet cables to a separate Ethernet adapter in each server. NOTE: In a redundant Ethernet cluster configuration, one Ethernet crossover cable must be installed between the two Ethernet switches or hubs that are dedicated to the cluster interconnect. To connect two or more nodes in a redundant Ethernet cluster interconnect: 1. Insert the ends of two Ethernet cables into two Ethernet adapter ports designated for the cluster interconnect. 2. Connect the other end of one Ethernet cable to an Ethernet hub or switch. Connect the other end of the second Ethernet cable to the second Ethernet hub or switch. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other nodes in the cluster. 4. Install one crossover cable between the Ethernet hubs or switches.
