Power Distribution and Power Sequencing Guidelines Overview It is recommended that you connect most cluster components to a Compaq power distribution unit (PDU). PDUs connect to an uninterruptible power source (UPS) or building power. The power distribution units and UPSs are the only cluster components connected to a building power source. If there is no UPS, the PDU plugs into building power. It is also recommended that you connect cluster components, such as servers, storage subsystems, switches, and hubs to two PDUs and UPSs so the cluster components continue to operate if one PDU or UPS fails.
