Adding a Shared Storage Subsystem
Each MA8000/EMA12000 Storage Subsystem consists of a controller
enclosure and up to six disk enclosures. The procedure to add another
MA8000/EMA12000 Storage Subsystem to a redundant Fibre Channel Fabric
or redundant FC-AL is very similar to the procedure used for installing the
first storage subsystem.
The majority of the instructions to add a storage subsystem are found in the
following subsections of Chapter 5,
Installation and Configuration
:
Installing the Hardware
Setting Up and Configuring an MA8000/EMA12000 Storage
Subsystem
Before starting the activities shown in these subsections, you should shut down
the Oracle instance on each node, stop the Oracle services on each node, shut
down each node, and power off the servers and storage subsystems.
After you have configured the new storage subsystem, you need to make the
additional space available to Oracle by performing the necessary Oracle
commands to associate the new data files to the database. Perform the
necessary Oracle commands to associate the new data files to the database.
Refer to the documentation provided with the Oracle software for detailed
guidelines.
Replacing a Cluster Node
Before replacing a node, verify that the new configuration is supported by the
PDC/O5000. To determine if your new server is supported, see the
Compaq
Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 Certification Matrix for
Windows 2000
at
www.compaq.com/solutions/enterprise/ha-pdc.html
IMPORTANT:
Certain restrictions apply to the server models and server configurations
that are supported by the Compaq Parallel Database Cluster. For a current list of
PDC/O5000-certified servers and details on supported configurations, refer to the
Compaq
Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 Certification Matrix for Windows 2000
.
Replacing a node consists of removing it logically from the cluster, removing
it physically from the cluster, then adding a new server to take its place.
