SIM/WWAN board Description SIM/WWAN board (includes cable) Spare part number 608382-001 Before removing the SIM/WWAN board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery cover and battery (see Battery on page 34), and then remove the following components: a. SIM (see SIM on page 35) b. Hard drive (see Mass storage device on page 36) c. WWAN module (see WWAN module on page 38) d. Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see WLAN module on page 41) e. Top cover (see Top cover on page 50) Remove the SIM/WWAN board: 1. Disconnect the Bluetooth module cable (1) from the SIM/WWAN board. 2. Release the grounding tape (2) that secures the SIM/WWAN cable to the base enclosure. 3. Release the ZIF connector to which the SIM/WWAN board cable is attached, and then disconnect the cable (3) from the system board. 4. Remove the Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screw (4) that secures the SIM/WWAN board to the base enclosure. Component replacement procedures 57

Before removing the SIM/WWAN board, follow these steps:
1.

Remove the SIM/WWAN board:
1.
Disconnect the Bluetooth module cable
(1)
from the SIM/WWAN board.
2.
Release the grounding tape
(2)
that secures the SIM/WWAN cable to the base enclosure.
3.
Release the ZIF connector to which the SIM/WWAN board cable is attached, and then
disconnect the cable
(3)
from the system board.
4.
Remove the Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screw
(4)
that secures the SIM/WWAN board to the base
enclosure.
