Optical drive Description DVD±RW and CD-RW Super Multi Double-Layer Combo Drive with LightScribe (includes cable, connector board, and retention rails) Spare part number 608374-001 Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery cover and battery (see Battery on page 34). 5. Remove the memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see WLAN module on page 41). 6. Remove the top cover (see Top cover on page 50). Remove the optical drive: 1. Close the computer. 2. Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you. 3. Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the optical drive cable is attached, and then disconnect the cable (2) from the system board. 4. Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you. 5. Open the computer as far as it will open. 6. Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) that secure the optical drive to the base enclosure. Component replacement procedures 59

Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:
1.

6.

).
Remove the optical drive:
1.
Close the computer.
2.
Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you.
3.
Release the ZIF connector
(1)
to which the optical drive cable is attached, and then disconnect
the cable
(2)
from the system board.
4.
Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.
5.
Open the computer as far as it will open.
6.
Remove the four Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws
(1)
that secure the optical drive to the base
enclosure.
