Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the display panel (see Display panel on page 25), and then remove the following components: a. Webcam (see Webcam on page 36) b. Leather cover (see Leather cover on page 41) c. Speaker assembly (see Speaker assembly on page 46) d. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 49) e. Hinges (see Hinges on page 52) Remove the display panel cable: 1. Release the display panel ribbon cable (1) from beneath the retention band. 2. Release the audio jack (2) from the lower frame. 3. Release the display panel cable from the retention clips (3) built into the lower frame. 4. Detach the display panel ribbon cable (4) from the lower frame. (The display panel ribbon cable is attached to the lower frame with adhesive.) 56 Chapter 5 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the display panel cable, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the display panel cable:
1.
Release the display panel ribbon cable
(1)
from beneath the retention band.
2.
Release the audio jack
(2)
from the lower frame.
3.
Release the display panel cable from the retention clips
(3)
built into the lower frame.
4.
Detach the display panel ribbon cable
(4)
from the lower frame. (The display panel ribbon cable is attached
to the lower frame with adhesive.)
