Configure Nicknames Nicknames replace the standard 8-byte world-wide names of switches and directors. By setting a nickname, you can assign a more meaningful name for a product. When you assign a nickname to a product, the nickname replaces the world-wide name in the HP EFC Manager views. When you add a nickname, you will be asked to specify whether the nickname is for a detached node or an attached node. An attached node is a device that is connected to a port on any of the managed products, while a detached node is not currently connected to a port. 1. From the Configure menu, choose Nicknames. The Configure Nicknames dialog box displays with existing nicknames that have already been configured (Figure 62).
