Introduction and General Information Backing Up and Restoring Data The backup and restore of critical HP EFC Manager data on the Windows 2000 system is provided by the Iomega® QuikSync™ application, which is installed on the HP EFC server. The Iomega Zip drive is installed in the media bay of the HP Omnibook. Remove the DVD/ CD ROM module if necessary, to install the Zip module. Only use the DVD/CD ROM to reinstall the software or firmware. Backup During installation, QuikSync is automatically configured to mirror the contents of the HP EFCData directory to the Zip™ drive any time the contents of that directory change or the server is rebooted. Therefore, whenever you make a configuration change, add or remove a managed product, or make any other changes through the HP EFC Manager or Fabric Manager, the data in this directory is automatically backed up. The existing backup file is updated; no separate versions of the backup file are maintained. Note To ensure trouble-free backups, it is imperative that you leave the Zip drive in the media bay and leave a Zip disk in that drive. When you log into Windows 2000 on the HP EFC server, QuikSync starts automatically. Any data that has changed in the HP EFCData directory while you were logged out will automatically be backed up. The backed up data includes: • All HP EFC Manager configuration (product definitions, user names, encrypted passwords, user rights, nicknames, session options, SNMP configuration, e-mail addresses, etc.) • Logs, both for the HP EFC Manager and any Product Managers • Zoning library, including all zone sets and zone definitions • Firmware library Backing Up and Restoring Data 19
