Complete the following steps to remove the hard disk drive backplane: 1. Turn off the server and attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. 2. Remove the cover and support bracket (see"Removing the side cover" on page 26 and "Removing and installing the support bracket" on page 28). 3. Remove all hard disk drives (see "Installing a drive" on page 31). Important: Be sure to identify in which bay each drive belongs so that they are in the correct order when reinstalled. 4. Pivot the drive cage out until it locks in position. 5. Disconnect the three cables from the hard disk drive backplane. Note: The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware. 6. Remove the four screws that secure the hard disk drive backplane to the drive cage and set them in a safe place; then, lift the backplane out of the server. To install the hard disk drive backplane, reverse the previous steps. Note: The drive cage will lock in the pivoted position. Hard disk drive backplane

Complete the following steps to remove the hard disk drive backplane:
1.
Turn off the server and attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords and
external cables.
2.
Remove the cover and support bracket (see“Removing the side cover” on page
26 and “Removing and installing the support bracket” on page 28).
3.
Remove all hard disk drives (see “Installing a drive” on page 31).
Important:
Be sure to identify in which bay each drive belongs so that they are
in the correct order when reinstalled.
4.
Pivot the drive cage out until it locks in position.
5.
Disconnect the three cables from the hard disk drive backplane.
Note:
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
6.
Remove the four screws that secure the hard disk drive backplane to the drive
cage and set them in a safe place; then, lift the backplane out of the server.
To install the hard disk drive backplane, reverse the previous steps.
Note:
The drive cage will lock in the pivoted position. To lower the drive cage,
press in on the blue flap on the side of the drive cage.
