Setup Selecting a mode (Turning the unit on/off) Rotate the mode dial to switch to recording, playback or power OFF. ≥ Rotate the mode dial slowly. STD mode HD mode OFF Disc Recording mode (l 53) Use this to record motion pictures in standard picture quality on a disc. Playback mode (l 80) Use this to play back motion pictures recorded in standard picture quality on a disc. The power turns off. SD Card Recording mode (l 53, 58) Use this to record motion pictures and still pictures in high definition picture quality on an SD card. Disc Recording mode (l 53, 58) Use this to record motion pictures in high definition picture quality on a disc and still pictures in high definition picture quality on an SD card. Playback mode (l 79, 84) Use this to play back motion pictures recorded in high definition picture quality on a disc and motion pictures and still pictures recorded in high definition picture quality on an SD card. The status indicator goes off and the power turns off. ≥ The lens cover closes when the mode dial is set to OFF. 36 VQT1J42 ≥ Do not forcefully rotate the dial. ≥ If changing from HD mode to STD mode or STD mode to HD mode when a disc is inserted in this unit, first slide the DISC EJECT lever and then change the mode. ≥ STD and HD mode cannot be recorded on the same disc. When using double sided media, one side can be used for STD and other side for HD mode. ≥ While recording in HD mode if you wish to switch to STD mode, remove the current disc and insert another disc to record in STD mode, and vice versa.
