Useful Information Display message Use rechargeable battery. You must first subscribe to Caller ID. Cause/solution L A wrong type of battery such as Alkaline or Manganese was inserted. Use only the rechargeable Ni-MH batteries noted on page 4, 6. L You must subscribe to Caller ID service. Once you receive caller information after subscribing to Caller ID service, this message will not be displayed. Troubleshooting If you still have difficulties after following the instructions in this section, disconnect the base unit's AC adaptor, then reconnect the base unit's AC adaptor. Remove the batteries from the handset, and then insert the batteries into the handset again. General use Problem The unit does not work. I cannot hear a dial tone. Cause/solution L Make sure the batteries are installed correctly (page 12). L Fully charge the batteries (page 12). L Check the connections (page 9). L Unplug the base unit's AC adaptor to reset the unit. Reconnect the adaptor and try again. L The handset has not been registered to the base unit. Register the handset (page 33). L The base unit's AC adaptor or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the connections. L If you are using a splitter to connect the unit, remove the splitter and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates properly, check the splitter. L Disconnect the base unit from the telephone line and connect the line to a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. Troubleshooting
