Using Your PSR-2100/1100 with Other Devices 3 Playing the sounds of the PSR-2100/1100 through an external audio system, and recording the sounds to an external recorder (AUX OUT/ OUTPUT jacks) You can connect the PSR-2100/1100 to a wide range of audio equipment by using the AUX OUT and OUTPUT jacks. Connect as shown in the illustrations below using standard audio cables. 4 Using the Pedal (footswitch) or Foot Controller (FOOT PEDAL 1/2 jack) By connecting a Foot Switch (the FC4 or FC5) to one of the FOOT PEDAL jacks, you can replicate the function of some panel buttons, doing things like starting and stopping accompaniment. By connecting an optional Foot Controller (such as the FC7) to the FOOT PEDAL 2 jack, you can control any one of a variety of important functions with your foot - such as dynamically adjusting the volume as you play (page 142). Use audio cables and adaptor plugs with no resistance. The polarity of the foot switch (normal or reverse) can also be changed (page 142). CAUTION When the PSR-2100/1100 AUX OUT and OUTPUT jacks are connected to an external audio system, first turn on the power to the PSR-2100/1100, then to the external audio system. Reverse this order when you turn the power off. Playing the sounds of the
PSR-2100/1100 through an
external audio system, and
recording the sounds to an
external recorder (AUX OUT/
OUTPUT jacks)
You can connect the PSR-2100/1100 to a wide range of
audio equipment by using the AUX OUT and OUTPUT
jacks.
Connect as shown in the illustrations below using
standard audio cables.

Using the Pedal (footswitch)
or Foot Controller (FOOT
PEDAL 1/2 jack)
By connecting a Foot Switch (the FC4 or FC5) to one of
the FOOT PEDAL jacks, you can replicate the function of
some panel buttons, doing things like starting and
stopping accompaniment.
By connecting an optional Foot Controller (such as the
FC7) to the FOOT PEDAL 2 jack, you can control any one
of a variety of important functions with your foot — such
as dynamically adjusting the volume as you play
(page 142).

Connecting external MIDI
devices (MIDI terminals)
Use the built-in MIDI terminals and standard MIDI cables
to connect external MIDI devices. For more information
about MIDI connections, see “What You Can Do With
MIDI” on page 160.
The MIDI terminals cannot be used when the USB
terminal is connected to a computer and active.

Sends out MIDI messages generated by
the PSR-2100/1100
For a general overview of MIDI and how you can
effectively use it, refer to the following sections:
• What’s MIDI? (page 158)
• What You Can Do With MIDI (page 160)
• MIDI functions (page 148)
Use audio cables and adaptor plugs with no resistance.
When the PSR-2100/1100 AUX OUT and OUTPUT jacks are
connected to an external audio system, first turn on the power to
the PSR-2100/1100, then to the external audio system. Reverse
this order when you turn the power off.

When these are connected

If you connect the PSR-2100/1100 to a monaural device, use
only the OUTPUT L/L+R jack.
The polarity of the foot switch (normal or reverse) can also be
changed (page 142).
Make sure to connect or disconnect the pedal only when the power
is turned off.
CAUTION
Never use MIDI cables longer than 15 meters.
