PLAYBACK Playing back sources Once an input source is selected (see page 37), you can play back the selected input source. Note This section uses a DVD player as an example of the playback source. y For details on the TV and the DVD player you are using, refer to the owner's manual supplied with the TV and the DVD player. 1 Turn on the power of your DVD player using the remote control supplied with the DVD player. 2 Switch to the video input on your TV using the remote control supplied with the TV so that the DVD menu screen is displayed. 3 If necessary, turn down the volume of your TV until you cannot hear any sound. 4 Press DVD on the remote control to select DVD as the input source. DVD Adjusting the volume INPUT VOLUME + STANDBY/ON VOLUME CH TV VOL MUTE TV INPUT TV MUTE Press VOLUME +/- on the front panel or on the remote control to increase or decrease the volume level. The numeric value of the volume level appears in the front panel display. Control range: 0.0 dB to -99.5 dB, MIN (minimum) VOLUME 5 Play back the DVD on your DVD player using the supplied remote control. Audio signals from your DVD player are output from the speakers of this unit. y • If the output volume is too low, increase the volume on this unit to around -25 dB. • If you have set the appropriate remote control codes for your TV and DVD player, you can use the remote control supplied with this unit to operate these components. For details on how to set remote control codes, see page 82. VOLUME + Front panel or Remote control VOL VOLUME MUTE appears at the minimum volume level. VOL Notes • The volume level of all input sources (including multi-channel as well as stereo sources) changes at the same time. • 0.5 dB of the volume level increases or decreases each time you press VOLUME +/-. • You can continuously increase or decrease the volume level if you press and hold VOLUME +/-. 38

Turn on the power of your DVD player using
the remote control supplied with the DVD
player.

Switch to the video input on your TV using
the remote control supplied with the TV so
that the DVD menu screen is displayed.

If necessary, turn down the volume of your
TV until you cannot hear any sound.

Press DVD on the remote control to select
DVD as the input source.

Play back the DVD on your DVD player using
the supplied remote control.
Audio signals from your DVD player are output from
the speakers of this unit.

If the output volume is too low, increase the volume on this unit
to around –25 dB.
If you have set the appropriate remote control codes for your
TV and DVD player, you can use the remote control supplied
with this unit to operate these components. For details on how
to set remote control codes, see page 82.
Press VOLUME +/– on the front panel or on the
remote control to increase or decrease the
volume level.
The numeric value of the volume level appears in the front
panel display.
Control range: 0.0 dB to –99.5 dB, MIN (minimum)
VOLUME MUTE appears at the minimum volume level.
The volume level of all input sources (including multi-channel

press VOLUME +/–.
