SnapExtensions Feature Description Snap EDR Management Console and Agent Utility included with your Snap Server that transfers, backs up, and restores files between Windows, UNIX, and GuardianOS systems. Comes with a 45 day trial license, but requires a license for each Snap Server thereafter. For more information, see "Snap Enterprise Data Replicator (Snap EDR)" on page 133. S2Sv2 - Server to Utility included with your Snap Server that moves, copies, or Server Synchronization replicates the contents of a share from one Snap Server to Manager and Node another share on one or more different Snap Servers. Note In GuardianOS v4.2 and later, the S2S utility is only supported for users with existing licenses. New users can use Snap EDR (described above). Snap Server Manager Utility included with your Snap Server for managing multiple Snap Servers simultaneously. This storage virtualization frees the administrator from the physical limitations of direct-attached storage media on network clients or servers, allowing capacity to be expanded easily as needed. In cases where an application requires a local disk to be used, an iSCSI target on the Snap Server can be utilized instead, providing more capacity than your internal disk drives may offer. See "iSCSI Disks" on page 63 for more information. Note A separate license is required on some platforms. Snapshots A snapshot is a consistent, stable, point-in-time image of a volume that can be backed up independent of activity on the live volume. Snapshots can also satisfy short-term backup situations such as recovering a file deleted in error, or even restoring an entire file system, without restoring from tape. See "Snapshots" on page 95 for more information. Note A separate license is required on some platforms. 18 Snap Server Administrator Guide

Snap EDR
Management Console
and Agent
Utility included with your Snap Server that transfers, backs up,
and restores files between Windows, UNIX, and GuardianOS
systems. Comes with a 45 day trial license, but requires a
license for each Snap Server thereafter. For more information,
see “Snap Enterprise Data Replicator (Snap EDR)” on page
133.
S2Sv2 - Server to
Server Synchronization
Manager and Node
Utility included with your Snap Server that moves, copies, or
replicates the contents of a share from one Snap Server to
another share on one or more different Snap Servers.
Note
In GuardianOS v4.2 and later, the S2S utility is only
supported for users with existing licenses. New users can use
Snap EDR (described above).
Snap Server Manager
Utility included with your Snap Server for managing multiple
Snap Servers simultaneously. For all Snap Servers, functional
out-of-the-box for single-server administration; but a license is
required for multiserver administration. For more information,
see Snap Server Manager’s online help.
iSCSI
On Snap Servers, an iSCSI disk is located on a Snap Server
volume but appears to a client machine as a local SCSI drive.
This storage virtualization frees the administrator from the
physical limitations of direct-attached storage media on network
clients or servers, allowing capacity to be expanded easily as
needed. In cases where an application requires a local disk to
be used, an iSCSI target on the Snap Server can be utilized
instead, providing more capacity than your internal disk drives
may offer. See “iSCSI Disks” on page 63 for more information.
Note
A separate license is required on some platforms.
Snapshots
A snapshot is a consistent, stable, point-in-time image of a
volume that can be backed up independent of activity on the live
volume. Snapshots can also satisfy short-term backup
situations such as recovering a file deleted in error, or even
restoring an entire file system, without restoring from tape. See
“Snapshots” on page 95 for more information.
Note
A separate license is required on some platforms.
