EEPROM Customizing Codes This function allows you to customize the EEPROM according to language, function settings, and firmware switch settings. n Operating Procedure (1) For machines w/ fax: American models: To make the equipment enter the maintenance mode, press the Function, *, 2, 8, 6, and 4 keys in this order. Within 2 seconds European models: To make the equipment enter the maintenance mode, press the Menu, *, 2, 8, 6, and 4 keys in this order. Within 2 seconds For machines w/o fax: To make the equipment enter the maintenance mode, press the Menu, 0, 2, 8, 6, and 4 keys in this order. Within 2 seconds The equipment beeps for approx. one second and displays " " on the LCD. (2) Press the 7 and 4 keys in this order in the initial stage of the maintenance mode. The current customizing code (e.g., 1001 in the case of MFC9600 USA version) appears. (3) Enter the desired customizing code (e.g., 0002 in the case of MFC9600 Canadian version). The newly entered code appears. NOTE: If a wrong 4-digit code is entered, the equipment will malfunction. (4) For machines w/ fax: Press the Start key. For machines w/o fax: Press the Sort key. The equipment saves the setting and returns to the initial stage of the maintenance mode. If you press the Stop key or no keys are pressed for one minute in the above procedure, the equipment stops the procedure and returns to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
