The range is from 1 to 65535. The interface cost reflects the overhead for sending the packet across the interface. This cost is advertised as the link cost in the router link advertisement. The cost is inversely proportional to the speed of an interface. The cost can be either manually assigned or be automatically determined. By default, the cost of an interface is calculated based on reference bandwidth. The cost corresponds to a reference bandwidth of 1. Select the Default option to use the default value which is 1. Enter the Hello Interval time value here. The range is from 1 to 65535 seconds. The Hello Interval is advertised in the hello packets. Configure the same hellointerval for all routers on a specific network. A shorter Hello Interval ensures faster detection of topological changes but generates more routing traffic and might cause routing instability. Select the Default option to use the default value which is 10 seconds. Enter the Dead Interval time value here. The range is from 1 to 65535 seconds. The Dead Interval is the amount of time that the router waits to receive an OSPF hello packet from the neighbor before declaring the neighbor down. This value is advertised in the router's hello packets. It must be the same for all routers on a specific network. Specifying a smaller Dead Interval ensures faster detection of 274
