Steps 1. Unpack the expansion card and prepare it for installation. For instructions, see the documentation accompanying the card. 2. If you are installing a new card, remove the filler bracket. a. Press and lift the expansion card retention latch. b. Pull the filler bracket upward out of the system. Figure 96. Removing the filler bracket NOTE: Store the filler bracket for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintain FCC certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system. 3. Holding the card on the edges, align the card with the expansion card connector on the system board. 4. Press the expansion card firmly into the expansion card connector on the system board until the card is fully seated. 5. a.
Press and lift the expansion card retention latch.
b.
Pull the filler bracket upward out of the system.
