HP Indigo WS6600 Working with Indigo ElectroInk SilverHow-to Guide - Page 6

Limitations, Performance and recommendations

Page 6 highlights

Limitations The following are the limitations for working with HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver. ● "BID memory" effect - A "ghost" of the image can appear at ~13 cm from the original image. This effect is visible in specific jobs (mostly with high silver coverage), and its appearance has been shown to improve after finishing (varnish or lamination). A specific calibration is available, but it does not necessarily eliminate the artifact completely. ● When printing with Silver, a low background appearance is possible. A specific calibration is available to eliminate the double appearance of background in frame-overlap areas. ● The press can print and calibrate HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver only as solid color. Silver gray-level calibration is not supported. Printing HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver as half tones reduces performance. ● Color stability of metallic colors has not been fully tested, therefore HP does not guarantee a specific performance. ● When using an M0 external spectrophotometer, it is not possible to measure the ElectroInk Silver optical density (OD) directly. See "Measuring Silver OD" in Color calibration recommendations per substrate on page 31. ● The following features are not available for HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver: - Single dot calibration - Continuous color calibration (CCC) - Spot refinement - Color profile - Calibration features for metallic colors - Media fingerprint - 3D color calibration ● HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver can be used ONLY on presses with a spectrophotometer installed. ● When working with Silver ink on narrow substrates, an accumulation of Silver ink may appear on the edges of the impression roller: this can be managed by cleaning. ● The ink must be rebuilt once a month (after the ink tank has been cleaned). Performance and recommendations Following are the performance-related notes and recommendations. IMPORTANT: HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver uses a dedicated BID base and developer roller, designed to be used ONLY for ElectroInk Silver. Using a regular BID will cause print quality and performance issues. DO NOT use the dedicated ElectroInk Silver BID base and developer roller for other inks. (Refer to Installing the dedicated BID base and developer roller on page 7). See below a list of performance-related notes and recommendations: 2 Chapter 1 Overview

Limitations
The following are the limitations for working with HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver.
“BID memory” effect — A “ghost” of the image can appear at ~13 cm from the original image. This
effect is visible in specific jobs (mostly with high silver coverage), and its appearance has been
shown to improve after finishing (varnish or lamination). A specific calibration is available, but
it does
not necessarily eliminate the artifact completely
.
When printing with Silver, a low background appearance is possible. A specific calibration is
available to eliminate the double appearance of background in frame-overlap areas.
The press can print and calibrate HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver only as solid color. Silver gray-level
calibration is not supported. Printing HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver as half tones reduces performance.
Color stability of metallic colors has not been fully tested, therefore HP does not guarantee a
specific performance.
When using an
M0
external spectrophotometer, it is not possible to measure the ElectroInk Silver
optical density (OD) directly. See “Measuring Silver OD” in
Color calibration recommendations per
substrate
on page
31
.
The following features are
not available
for HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver:
Single dot calibration
Continuous color calibration (CCC)
Spot refinement
Color profile
Calibration features for metallic colors
Media fingerprint
3D color calibration
HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver can be used ONLY on presses with a spectrophotometer installed.
When working with Silver ink on narrow substrates, an accumulation of Silver ink may appear on the
edges of the impression roller: this can be managed by cleaning.
The ink must be rebuilt once a month (after the ink tank has been cleaned).
Performance and recommendations
Following are the performance-related notes and recommendations.
IMPORTANT:
HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver uses a dedicated BID base and developer roller, designed to
be used ONLY for ElectroInk Silver. Using a regular BID will cause print quality and performance issues.
DO NOT use the dedicated ElectroInk Silver BID base and developer roller for other inks. (Refer to
Installing the dedicated BID base and developer roller
