Adding Clients to Windows Domains In order for such a script to work, you have to make sure that: • netdom.exe is in the system search path (for example, copy it in c:\windows\system32). • the Environment variables DomainName, UserName and UserPass are consistent. (UserName must be the name of a user account in the domain specified by DomainName. UserName must have the right to add and remove computers in DomainName.) • the settings of the Windows instance contained in your image are such that the service NetLogon is started automatically. • this script is launched before the login dialog is displayed. To achieve this, use a computer startup script that you would set using the Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc) run on a client that had mounted the image in Admin mode. • there is no pre-existing NeoDomSO file (where the domain credentials are stored) for the client that has to be added to the domain. These files are usually stored in a folder named with the client's MAC address in the folder specified by the client_files_dir parameter. Note that this script can stay in the image even after the clients are joined to the domain. Then, when you add a new client, all you have to do is make sure that it gets the name you specified (e.g. in the Image Manager console).
