Removal and Replacement Procedures 16. Slide the system board toward the front of the server and lift the system board off the alignment keys. Figure 2-54: Removing the system board from the chassis 17. Remove the rear fan bracket. See the "Rear Fan Bracket" section in this chapter. Reverse steps 1 through 17 to replace the system board. CAUTION: Always use a new heatsink with thermal interface material when replacing processors on the new system board. Failure to use new components may result in damage to the processor. For more information, see the "Processors" section in this chapter. IMPORTANT: Tighten the system board thumbscrew before installing the front fan bracket. The fan bracket does not seat securely if the thumbscrew is not fully tightened. When reinstalling the processor on the new system board, discard the used heatsink. Reinstall the processors with the new heatsink that ships in the system board spare parts kit.
