Each communications port consists of a transmitter and receiver optical subassembly. The transmitter subassembly contains internally a semiconductor laser diode in the wavelength of either 850 nanometers (shortwave laser) or 1310 nanometers (longwave laser). Batteries, battery packs, and accumulators should not be disposed of with the general household waste.
