Bypassing an unknown power-on password: When a power-on password is set, POST does not complete until you enter the password. If you forget the power-on password, you can regain access to the server through one of the following methods: Enter the administrator password at the power-on prompt, if an administrator password has been set. (If necessary, see "Using the administrator password menu" on page 27 for details.) Start the Configuration/Setup Utility programs and change the power-on password. See "Using the power-on password menu" on page 26. Change switch 8 on the system switch block to On (Bypass Power-On Password). See "System board connectors" on page 143 for the location of the switch block. 148 Netfinity Server HMM

Note
450MHz and Up
All microprocessors of speed 450MHz and up will
automatically set their internal speeds, so the switch
setting is not applicable.
Bypassing an unknown power-on
password:
When a power-on password is set, POST
does not complete until you enter the password.
If you
forget the power-on password, you can regain access to
the server through one of the following methods:
±
Enter the administrator password at the power-on
prompt, if an administrator password has been set.
(If necessary, see “Using the administrator password
menu” on page
27 for details.)
Start the
Configuration/Setup Utility programs and change the
power-on password.
See “Using the power-on
password menu” on page
26.
±
Change switch 8 on the system switch block to On
(Bypass Power-On Password).
See “System board
connectors” on page
143 for the location of the
switch block.
