- System Event/Error Log Select this choice to view the system event and error messages that were generated during POST and runtime. Select Clear event/error logs to clear the event and error log. v Save Settings Select this choice to save the changes that you have made in the settings. v Restore Settings Select this choice to cancel the changes that you have made in the settings and restore the previous settings. v Load Default Settings Select this choice to cancel the changes that you have made in the settings and restore the factory settings. v Exit Setup Select this choice to exit from the Configuration/Setup Utility program. If you have not saved the changes that you have made in the settings, you are asked whether you want to save the changes or exit without saving them. Using passwords From the System Security choice, you can set, change, and delete a power-on password. If you set a power-on password, you must type the power-on password to complete the system startup and to have access to the full Configuration/Setup Utility menu. You can use any combination of up to seven characters (A - Z, a - z, and 0 - 9) for the password. Keep a record of your password in a secure place. If you forget the power-on password, you can regain access to the blade workstation in any of the following ways: v Remove the blade workstation battery and then reinstall it (see the Problem Determination and Service Guide on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD). v Press the clear CMOS button on the system board to clear out CMOS information including the power-on password. See "System-board switches and jumpers" on page 14 for the location of the clear CMOS button. Note: Shut down the operating system, turn off the blade workstation, and remove the blade workstation from the BladeCenter unit to access the system-board switches and buttons. Using the Boot Menu program The Boot Menu program is a built-in, menu-driven configuration program that you can use to temporarily redefine the first startup device without changing settings in the Configuration/Setup Utility program. To use the Boot Menu program, complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the blade workstation. 2. Restart the blade workstation. 3. Press F12. 4. Using
passwords
From
