You can use any combination of up to seven characters (A - Z, a - z, and 0 - 9) for the password. Keep a record of your password in a secure place. If you forget the power-on password, you can regain access to the blade workstation in any of the following ways: v Remove the blade workstation battery and then reinstall it (see the Problem Determination and Service Guide on the IBM BladeCenter Documentation CD). v Press the clear CMOS button on the system board to clear out CMOS information including the power-on password. See "System-board switches and jumpers" on page 14 for the location of the clear CMOS button. Note: Shut down the operating system, turn off the blade workstation, and remove the blade workstation from the BladeCenter unit to access the system-board switches and buttons. Using the Boot Menu program The Boot Menu program is a built-in, menu-driven configuration program that you can use to temporarily redefine the first startup device without changing settings in the Configuration/Setup Utility program. To use the Boot Menu program, complete the following steps: 1. Turn off the blade workstation. 2. Restart the blade workstation. 3. Press F12. 4.
