RELEASE (10) The RELEASE command is used to release a LUN previously reserved. It is not an error for an Initiator to attempt to release a reservation that is not currently active. In this case the drive returns a GOOD status. Extents are not supported by the drive. The Ext (Extent) bit must be zero. If the Ext bit is not zero, CHECK CONDITION status is returned with a sense key of ILLEGAL REQUEST and additional sense code of INVALID FIELD IN CDB. Reservation Identification is ignored.
