Video and audio Problem Solution No picture or sound (the screen is not lit) • Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a power outlet. • Press (power) on your TV or the remote control. • Try another channel. The problem could be with the TV station. Dark, poor, or no picture (the screen is lit), but sound is good • Select the correct picture mode. For more information, see "Adjusting the picture" on page 16. • Adjust the brightness. For more information, see "Adjusting the picture" on page 16. • Make sure that the antenna or cable TV is connected correctly. For more information, see "Connecting an antenna, cable TV, or satellite TV box" on page 9. No color, picture is dark, or color is not correct • Adjust the color saturation. For more information, see "Adjusting the picture" on page 16. Only noise (snow) appears on the screen • Make sure that the antenna or cable TV is connected correctly. For more information, see "Connecting an antenna, cable TV, or satellite TV box" on page 9. • Try another channel. The problem could be with the TV station. Picture has dotted lines or stripes • Adjust the antenna. • Move your TV away from noise sources, such as cars, neon signs, or hair dryers. Picture has double images • Use a highly directional outdoor antenna or change to cable or satellite TV. Picture has a few bright or dark dots • A few bright or dark dots on an LCD screen is normal. It does not affect the operation of this TV. Good picture, no sound • Increase the volume. • Press MUTE to make sure that the sound is not muted. • Make sure that the audio mode is set to STEREO or MONO. For more information, see "Selecting the audio mode" on page 18. Audio noise or static • Move radio frequency communication equipment, such as a cordless phone, away from your TV. Remote control Problem Remote control does not work Solution • Replace the battery. For more information, see "Installing the remote control battery" on page 7. • Make sure that the battery are inserted correctly. For more information, see "Installing the remote control battery" on page 7. • Make sure that the power cord is plugged into an AC power outlet. General Problem Cannot tune to one or more channels Password is lost Cannot access some items TV cabinet creaks Buttons do not work Solution • The program you want to watch may be blocked through the parental controls. For more information, see "Setting parental control levels" on page 23 or "Turning the button lock on or off" on page 22. • The channel may have been deleted from the channel list. You can tune to the channel by pressing the number buttons or you can add the channel back to the channel list. For more information, see "Changing channel settings" on page 19. • On the Parental Controls menu, enter 9999 for the password, then set a new password. For more information, see "Setting or changing the password" on page 22. • If a setting or option is grayed out, it is not available in the current input mode. • When you are using your TV, the temperature inside the cabinet increases. This causes the cabinet to expand or contract, which produces the creaking noise. This is not a malfunction. • Unplug the power cord for a few seconds, then plug it back in and turn on your TV. FM radio Problem Solution Cannot hear the FM station well • The receiving frequency is not tuned in fully. Adjust the frequency manually to improve reception. • Fully extend the FM antenna. • Keep the FM antenna as horizontal as possible. Reception is weak and sound quality is poor • The radio signal may be weak. Try moving your TV to another location (such as near a window) to improve reception. The FM broadcast is affected by interference • A device emitting radio signals, such as a mobile phone, is being used near your TV. Keep such devices away from your TV. Note If the problem is not solved by using these troubleshooting instructions, turn off your TV, then turn it on again. Maintaining • To clean your TV, wipe with it a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth dipped in a soap and water solution or a weak detergent solution. • Use eyeglass cleaner to remove stubborn dirt from the screen. • Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean your TV. • Before using a chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that came with the cloth carefully. www.insigniaproducts.com 31
