Replacing the CPU board ✏ NOTE • Review the information in "General Safety" and "Electrical Safety" beginning on page vi and "Installation guidelines" on page 19. • Read "Handling electrostatic discharge-sensitive devices" on page vii. Complete the following steps to remove and replace the CPU board: 1. Shut down the operating system and turn off the blade server (see "Turning off the blade server" on page 13 for instructions). 2. Remove the blade server from the system chassis (see "Removing the blade server from the system chassis" on page 19 for instructions). 3. Remove the blade server cover (see "Opening the blade server cover" on page 20 for instructions). ✏ NOTE If you have a SCSI storage expansion unit installed (which replaces the blade server cover) then remove the SCSI storage expansion unit. 4. Remove the blade server bezel assembly (see "Removing the blade server bezel assembly" on page 21 for instructions). 5. Remove the clear plastic CPU air baffle. TP00434 6. Replacing the CPU board
NOTE

Complete the following steps to remove and replace the CPU board:
1.
Shut down the operating system and turn off the blade server (see “Turning off the blade server”
on page 13 for instructions).
2.
Remove the blade server from the system chassis (see “Removing the blade server from the
system chassis” on page 19 for instructions).
3.
Remove the blade server cover (see “Opening the blade server cover” on page 20 for
instructions).
NOTE
If you have a SCSI storage expansion unit installed (which replaces the blade server
cover) then remove the SCSI storage expansion unit.
4.
Remove the blade server bezel assembly (see “Removing the blade server bezel assembly” on
page 21 for instructions).
5.
Remove the clear plastic CPU air baffle.
6.
Locate the first microprocessor socket on the CPU board (see “CPU board illustration” on page
9 for location of the first microprocessor socket).
