Memory Removing the Memory Module  NOTE Make sure you run the SSU to configure ECC memory. Failure to do so might degrade the performance of the server. See "Memory" on page 22 for memory size and requirements. 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this chapter. 2. Remove the access cover (see page 89). 3. Remove the rear foam cover over the electronics bay. It might be easier to do this if you also remove the front foam cover over the front subchassis. 4. Remove the memory module from the baseboard: • Pull the module toward you slightly to disengage it from the baseboard connector. • Slide the module straight away from the baseboard until it clears the guide rails. • Place the module component-side up on a nonconductive, static-free surface. Removing the Memory Module
NOTE

1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this chapter.
2.
Remove the access cover (see page 89).
3.
Remove the rear foam cover over the electronics bay.
It might be easier to do this if you also
remove the front foam cover over the front subchassis.
4.
Remove the memory module from the baseboard:
Pull the module toward you slightly to disengage it from the baseboard connector.
Slide the module straight away from the baseboard until it clears the guide rails.
Place the module component-side up on a nonconductive, static-free surface.
