Emergency Management Port (EMP) Console The EMP console provides an interface, called the console manager, to the EMP. This interface allows remote server management via a modem or direct connection. The following server control operations are available with the console manager: • Connecting to remote servers • Powering the server on or off • Resetting the server • Switching the server console between EMP active and BIOS re-direct modes The console manager uses three management plug-ins to monitor the server: the SEL, SDR, and FRU viewers. The console manager also has a support plug-in phonebook, which you can use to create and maintain a list of servers and their phone numbers. You can launch the Connect dialog directly from the Phonebook dialog to connect to a selected server. 57

Exiting the SSU
Exiting the SSU causes all windows to close.

Emergency Management Port (EMP) Console
