1 (3) Connecting the printer cable Caution ALWAYS turn the printer and the computer OFF before connecting the printer cable. Turn the main switch, located on the left side of the printer, OFF (O). * When this unit is used as a local printer, turn the power to the Server OFF as well. 2 Connect the printer cable to the printer cable connector located on the right side of the printer. * When this unit is used as a local printer, use the printer cable that is included with this product. The printer cable should always be a 10Base-T or 100Base-TX cable. 3 Turn the main switch to the printer back ON ( | ). * When this unit is used as a local printer, turn the power to the Server back ON as well. Preparation (4) Installing the Printing System software Carry out the following procedure to install the Printing System software that is appropriate to the operating system that is in use on your computer. The following Printing System software is available with this product. • Printer Driver PCL for Windows 95 • Printer Driver PS for Windows 95 • Printer Driver PCL for Windows NT 4.0 • Printer Driver PS for Windows NT 4.0 • PPD files for Mac OS • Status Monitor for Windows 95 / Windows NT 4.0 • Server Software Refer to the corresponding section for the appropriate installation procedure for each software package. 4
