DMZ can be used for connecting servers that need to be accessible from the outside world. This may be necessary if the firewall is causing problems with a particular application, such as a game or video conference application. DMZ can be configured when using the Modem in NAT mode; however, you will not be able to access the WAN IP address of the Modem until an Ethernet device is connected to the LAN port of the Modem. As in the prior example, the Modem will match ingress packet VLAN ID with egress VLAN ID. Use this feature on a temporary basis. The computer in the DMZ is not protected by the firewall. As in the prior example, the Modem will match ingress

Use this feature on a temporary basis.
