Scan Window Operations After editing an image in the Nikon Scan applet and saving it to disk, you may want to open the scan window and adjust settings for another scan. Adjusting scan window settings When Nikon Scan is used as a stand-alone application, the Nikon Scan menu can be used to adjust a variety of scan window settings. The following options are available: Opening the scan window Depending on your platform, one of the following two methods can be used to open the scan window: • The Tools Sub-Menu Selecting a scanner from the Tools sub-menu in the Nikon Scan menu opens the scan window for the device. • Open Source (Windows only) In the Windows version of Nikon Scan, you can open the scan windows for all connected scanners by selecting Open TWAIN Source from the File menu or by clicking the button in the toolbar. Option Description Preferences... (Windows only) Opens the Preferences dialog (see 105). Tools Like the Tools button in the scan window, this sub-menu can be used to open the Tool Chest, Scan Progress window, or the scan window for a selected device (see 40). Settings... When a scan window is active, this submenu offers the same commands as the scan window settings menu (see 88). Color Space (Macintosh) Scan Color Space (Windows) When a scan window is active, this submenu offers the same commands as the scan window color-model menu (see 28). Document Choose a new bit-depth and color model Color Space for the image in the active image window. (Windows only) For details, see 96. Nikon Scan does not support simultaneous connection of more than one 4000 ED or of more than one COOLSCAN IV ED.
