Windows Step 4-Run RegSweeper When Nikon Scan is installed, changes are made to the Windows registry, which records information about the system configuration. Any entries pertaining to Nikon Scan will remain after Nikon Scan is uninstalled, which may affect the operation of Nikon Scan after reinstallation. To prevent this problem, Nikon Scan comes with a special utility, called RegSweeper, which removes all registry entries created by Nikon Scan. 4-1 Read the RegSweeper manual, located on the Nikon Scan 3.0 CD in the folder NKScan\NikonScan3\Utilities\PDFfile. To view the manual using Adobe Acrobat Reader, doubleclick the RegSweeper.pdf icon. Macintosh Step 4-Delete scanner settings Delete the file "MAIDDriverPrefs" from the Preferences folder in the System folder, and "Nikon Scan3Prefs" from the Nikon MAID folder in the Preferences folder. Step 5-Delete copies of the Nikon Scan plug-in Delete any copies of the Nikon Scan plug-in that may exist in the plug-ins folders of the programs you have been using as host applications for Nikon Scan. Step 6-Reinstall Nikon Scan Reinstall Nikon Scan as described in "Getting Started: Installation." 4-2 Copy the files RegSweeper.exe, RemkeyList.txt, and ReadMe.txt to your hard drive from the directory NKScan\Utilities on the CD. 4-3 Read the ReadMe.txt file by double clicking on the ReadMe.txt icon to open the file in the Notepad.
