The Single Scan tab contains the following options: After scan Before scan Option Description Option Description Auto focus If this item is checked (the default setting), an autofocus operation will be performed as necessary before making a scan. Auto exposure for positive film If this item is checked (the default setting), an autoexposure operation will be performed as necessary before scanning film positives. Auto exposure for negative film If this item is checked (the default setting), an autoexposure operation will be performed as necessary before scanning film negatives. * Once an autofocus or autoexposure operation has been performed for the current frame, the operation will not be repeated before a preview or scan. If desired, you can use the autofocus and autoexposure buttons in the scan window to ensure that these operations are performed before previewing or scanning images. If Perform auto focus when film is inserted is selected in the Scanner Extras palette, an autofocus operation will automatically be performed when a slide is inserted in a slide-mount adapter, with the result that an autofocus operation will not be performed automatically before the image is scanned. Save to disk If this item is checked when Nikon Scan is used as a stand-alone application, the image created when the Scan button is clicked will be saved to disk instead of being opened in an image window in Nikon Scan. When the Scan button is clicked, a Save dialog will appear where you can specify a name, location, and file type for the image. This option has no effect when Nikon Scan is being used as a plug-in or TWAIN source for another application. The default option is off. Close window and eject film If this item is checked, the scan window will close automatically after scanning. Film will automatically be ejected from the SA-21/SA-20 and optional IA-20 (S), SA-30 (4000 ED only), and SF-200 (S) (4000 ED/ LS-2000 only) adapters. Pg.
