18 Reference information • BATTERIES, CHARGERS, AND ACCESSORIES This section provides information about the phone's batteries, accessories, and chargers. Be aware that the information in this section is subject to change as the batteries, chargers, and accessories change. Check the model number of any charger before use with this device. Warning: Use only batteries, chargers and accessories approved by the phone manufacturer for use with this particular phone model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty applying to the phone, and may be dangerous. For availability of approved accessories, please check with your dealer. Note: For information on how to charge and recharge your battery, refer to "Charge the battery" on page 11. Charging and Discharging Your phone is powered by a rechargeable battery. Note that a new battery's full performance is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles! The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times but it will eventually wear out. When the operating time (talk-time and standby time) is noticeably shorter than normal, it is time to buy a new battery. Use only batteries approved by the phone manufacturer and recharge your battery only with the chargers approved by the manufacturer. 18 Unplug the charger when not in use. Do not leave the battery connected to a charger for longer than a week, since overcharging may shorten its lifetime. If left unused, a fully charged battery will discharge itself over time. Temperature extremes can affect the ability of your battery to charge. Allow it to cool down or warm up first. [ 138 ]
