Philips Consumer Electronics recommends that you use only video cassette tapes that have the mark.The use of other tapes may result in poor picture quality and excessive deposits on the video heads, which may not be covered by the warranty if damage occurs. The DVD/VCR also has a 19 micron head, which provides a better picture when you view tapes recorded in slow speed (SLP). Recording Prevention Video cassette tapes have record tabs to ensure that recordings are not accidentally erased. 1 1 To prevent recording, break off the tab with a screwdriver. 2 2 To allow recording, cover the hole with cellophane tape. DVD/VCR maintenance q Use only tapes with the mark. q Remove any light adhesive stick-on notes from the video cas- sette tape before putting the tape in the DVD/VCR. Removable labels can jam the DVD/VCR. q Periodic maintenance is required to maintain your DVD/VCR's excellent performance.This DVD/VCR has an Automatic Head Cleaner. However, the video heads will require replacement even- tually. Only an authorized service center should perform this ser- vice.
