Auto Focus When you try to shoot a subject that is difficult to focus on, the AE/AF lock indicator changes to flashing slowly. The Auto Focus function may have difficulty working under the following conditions. In such cases, release the shutter button, then recompose the shot and focus again. If the Auto Focus function can still not bring the subject into focus, use the Focus Preset function (page 36). • The subject is distant from the camera and dark. • The contrast between the subject and its background is poor. • The subject is seen through glass, such as a window. • A fast-moving subject. • The subject reflects or has a lustrous finish, such as a mirror or a luminous body. • A flashing subject. LCD light You can use [LCD LIGHT] under [ ] with MENU and v/V on the control button to turn the LCD light on and off. This is useful for extending the battery life. • This camera is equipped with a reflective-type LCD screen that allows you to see the LCD screen even when the LCD light is turned off, as long as there is some ambient illumination. • Even if the LCD light setting is "off," the LCD light will turn on when menu operations are being performed. When the menu operation is completed, the LCD light will turn off again. 28
