Magnification setting by the zoom ring can only be performed within the optical range of the lens. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the lens. Zoom ring Adjusting the zoom with the zoom lever Adjust the magnification with the zoom lever. Move the zoom lever slightly for a slower zoom. Move it further for a faster zoom. Optical power zoom You can enlarge the image without deterioration. A compatible optical power zoom lens is required. Search image  Notes  Do not grab or apply a strong force to the lens cylinder that rolls out when zooming. The lens may be damaged.  You may need to set a switch on the lens to MANUAL, depending on the lens you are using. Wider range of view (Wide angle) Close view (Telephoto) Digital zoom Due to digital processing, the image quality will deteriorate. While using digital zoom, the face detection (p. 74) and tracking focus (p. 44) functions are not effective. If you use digital zoom when backlight compensation is activated by the face detection function, that function is cancelled and the screen brightness may be decreased. Adjusting the zoom by the zoom
ring
If the lens has a zoom ring, you can adjust
the magnification by turning it to the right
or left. Magnification setting by the zoom
ring can only be performed within the

Adjust the magnification with the zoom

Digital zoom
