Maintenance 4. Wipe the ADF pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to snag the swab on the springs on either side of the pad. 5. Close the cover when you're finished. Cleaning the Flatbed Scanner Glass Scanning items that have excessive amounts of dirt or dust may dirty the glass. To ensure the best quality scanned item, wipe the scanner glass with a soft clean cloth to rid the glass of dust or other debris. If there is any residue on the glass that does not remove with a soft dry cloth try dampening the cloth with Isopropyl rubbing alcohol. NOTE: If lines are appearing in scans from the ADF but not from the flatbed, make sure you have cleaned the area of the flatbed glass that the ADF scans against. This area is at one side of the glass and has a white reference frame.
