Page 112 highlights

Maintenance Replacing the Roller Assembly After extended use, the roller may wear out and will need to be replaced. It is a user-replaceable part and can be ordered. See the section "Xerox DocuMate 632 Scanner Parts List" on page 118 for the part number. A worn roller can cause documents to feed in at an angle, multiple pages to feed at the same time, or not grab pages at all as the roller slips on the page. If standard maintenance of cleaning the scanner and replacing the ADF pad assembly does not resolve paper feed issues, it may be time to replace the scanner. Please note that you cannot accurately determine if the roller has worn out if the roller has not been cleaned first. Excessive dust on the roller can make it appear worn and will be smooth to the touch. You can take the roller out of the scanner to clean and examine it before making the decision to replace the roller. To remove the roller assembly: 1. Open the ADF cover. Note that opening the ADF cover automatically disengages the toothed gear on the right side of the roller so it can be removed. The roller assembly fits in a channel in the ADF cover. You can identify the roller assembly by its orange lock flange. DocuMate 632 Scanner User's Guide 107

Maintenance
Replacing the Roller Assembly
After extended use, the roller may wear out and will need to be
replaced. It is a user-replaceable part and can be ordered. See the
section “Xerox DocuMate 632 Scanner Parts List” on page 118 for
the part number.
A worn roller can cause documents to feed in at an angle, multiple
pages to feed at the same time, or not grab pages at all as the
roller slips on the page. If standard maintenance of cleaning the
scanner and replacing the ADF pad assembly does not resolve
paper feed issues, it may be time to replace the scanner.
Please note that you cannot accurately determine if the roller has
worn out if the roller has not been cleaned first. Excessive dust on
the roller can make it appear worn and will be smooth to the touch.
You can take the roller out of the scanner to clean and examine it
before making the decision to replace the roller.
To remove the roller assembly:
1.
Open the ADF cover.
Note that opening the ADF cover automatically disengages the
toothed gear on the right side of the roller so it can be removed.
The roller assembly fits in a channel in the ADF cover. You can
identify the roller assembly by its orange lock flange.
