Basic Guide Playing the Pads Cymbals Strike different sections of the pad in the same way you would play an acoustic cymbal. With the ride cymbal (the pad with position sensor connected to the [iRIDE] jack), you can create natural tonal changes according to the location within the Zone. Bow shots Striking the main surface of the cymbal pad (i.e., the bow section located between the cup and edge) produces a bow shot sound. With the ride cymbal, strike the front side of the bow section, you can create natural tonal changes according to the location within the Zone. *1 Edge shots Bell shots Front side on the outer edge Striking the front side on the outer edge of the cymbal pad produces an edge shot sound. *1 Make sure that the drumstick is parallel to the pad surface when striking the pad. The edge sensor switch on the cymbal pad may not react properly when the pad is struck completely from the side. Striking the bell (cup) produces a bell shot sound. Choking Grabbing the front side on the outer edge of a cymbal pad immediately after striking it will mute the sound being produced. *1 Front side on the outer edge 30 DTX-PROX Owner's Manual
