Prestige 1100 Internet Access Router Field Description Options Edit PPP Options To edit the PPP options for this remote node, move the cursor to this field, use the space bar to select [Yes] and press [Enter]. This will bring you to Menu 11.2 - Remote Node PPP Options. For more information on configuring PPP options, see the section Editing PPP Options. Press space bar to toggle [Yes] then press [Enter] Rem IP Addr This is a required field [?] if IP routing is enabled. Enter the IP address of the remote gateway. Edit IP/IPX/Bridge Options To edit the parameters, select [Yes] and press [ENTER]. This will bring you to Menu 11.3 - Remote Node Network Layer Options. For more information on this screen, refer to the chapter pertaining to your specific protocol. Press space bar to select [Yes] then press [ENTER] Session Options: Input Filter Sets, Output Filter Sets In these fields, enter the filter set(s) you wish to apply to the incoming and outgoing traffic between this remote node and your Prestige 1100. You can choose from 12 different filter sets. In addition, you can link up to 4 filter sets together for further customization, e.g., 1, 5, 9, 12. Default= Blank Note that spaces are accepted in this field. For more information on customizing your filter sets, see Chapter 8. The default is blank, i.e., no filters defined. Once you have completed filling in Menu 11.1.1 - Remote Node Profile, press [ENTER] at the message [Press ENTER to Confirm...] to save your configuration, or press [ESC] at any time to cancel. 4.2 Outgoing Authentication Protocol Generally speaking, you should employ the strongest authentication protocol possible, for obvious reasons. However, some vendor's implementation includes specific authentication protocol in the user profile. It will disconnect if the negotiated protocol is different from that in the user profile, even when the negotiated protocol is stronger than specified. If you encounter the case where the peer disconnects right after a successful authentication, please make sure that you specify the correct authentication protocol when connecting to such an implementation. 4.3 Editing PPP Options To edit the remote node options, move the cursor to the Edit PPP Options field in Menu 11.1 - Remote Node Profile, and use the space bar to select [Yes].
