Chapter 3 Hardware Overview Table 2 Panel Connections (continued) CONNECTOR DESCRIPTION Management Connect to a computer using an RJ-45 Ethernet cable for local Port configuration of the Switch. DC/AC Input After you install a power module, connect an appropriate power supply to the power input connector. 3.2.4 Management Port The 100Base-T Ethernet MGMT (management) port is used for local management. Connect directly to this port using an Ethernet cable. You can configure the Switch via Telnet or the web configurator. The default IP address of the management port is 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. 3.2.5 Power Connector Make sure you are using the correct power source and that no objects obstruct the airflow of the fans. 3.3 Power Connection The Switch uses two power supply modules, one of which is redundant, so if one power module fails the system can operate on the remaining module. The Switch supports two types of power modules: AC power module (ACP470048F) and DC power module (DCP4700-48F). You can install one type depending on your power source or install both types simutaneously. The power connections are on the front of each power module. The power modules are on the right of the rear panel of the Switch. Use the following procedures to connect the Switch to a power source after you have installed it in a rack. Note: Check the power supply requirements in Chapter 55 on page 455, and make sure you are using an appropriate power source.
