New Vehicle."Break-In" NOTICE: Your modern Pontiacdoesn't need an elaborate "break-in." But itwill perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines: 0 Don't drive at any one speed fast or slow for the first miles (804 km). 500 Don't make.ful1-throttle starts. 0 Avoid making hard stopsfor the first 200 miles (322 km) or so.During this time your new brake linings aren't yet broken in. Hard stopswith new linings can mean premature wear .and earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-in guideline every time you get new brake linings. 0 Don't tow a trailer duringbreak-in. See "Towing a Trailer" inthe Index formore information. Ignition Switch C -- -- A E W With the keyin the ignition switch, you turn the can switch to five positions.
