Glossary LIN link link incident link incident alerts LIP load balancing local local area network logical unit number login server loop loop address field-replaceable units (FRUs) and the front bezel to provide visual indications of hardware status or malfunctions. In Fibre Channel addressing, a logical unit number is a number assigned to a storage device which, in combination with the storage device's node port's world-wide name, represents a unique identifier for a logical device on a storage area network. Peripherals use LUNs to represent addresses. A small computer system interface (SCSI) device's address can have up to eight LUNs. Entity within the Fibre Channel fabric that receives and responds to login requests. A loop is a configuration of devices connected to the fabric via a fabric loop port (FL_Port) interface card. In Fibre Channel protocol, a term indicating the unique ID of a node in Fibre Channel loop topology, sometimes referred to as a loop ID. g-25
