External components Note Note This section includes the procedures to remove the height guides and the printer covers. The procedure for removing the printer right-side cover is included in the section for separating the scanner from the printer. See Printer right-side cover. Height guides This procedure can be completed without separating the scanner and printer. For clarity only, the following steps show the scanner and printer separated. 1. Use a short, flat-blade screwdriver to gently push down on the height-guide locking tab (callout 1). 1 Figure 5-41. Remove the height guides 2. With the locking tab depressed, slide the height guide toward the front of the product, and then remove it. Reinstallation tip The height guides are marked with an R to indicate a right-side guide and an L to indicate a left-side guide. Left-side door 1.
